HOUSTON – Best Bites Houston is set to launch a second innovative walking tour of Downtown Houston dubbed the Booze, Bites & Historical Sites Tour this Friday, December 13. The craft cocktail-focused tour comes after a successful launch of the company’s initial food-focused tour in March, which showcases some of Houston’s Best Bites to both visitors and locals alike. Since its inception, more than 1,000 people have participated in the unique gastronomic experience.

The Booze, Bites & Historical Sites Tour will feature a variety of craft cocktails from some of the city’s most talented mixologists in addition to a few delicious bites and a dose of history. Each tour will be different, offering an element of surprise to all participants. Best Bites Houston has partnered with numerous downtown hotspots for this new venture, including OKRA Charity Saloon, Frank’s Pizza, Frank’s Backyard, El Big Bad, Boomtown Coffee, Sambuca, Lawless Spirits & Kitchen, Kanaloa HTX, OHMYGOGI! Market Square and The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar. Consider this tour a refined happy hour that transports you back to the beginnings of Houston.

Participants can expect a variety of flavor profiles throughout the tour. Some may enjoy a Blueberry, Jalapeño & Cilantro Margarita paired with a hearty Steak Carne Asada Taco or a warm, flakey Plantain Empanada (vegetarian-friendly) from El Big Bad. Others may enjoy a refreshing Peach Moonshine paired with a mouthwatering Smoked Brisket Grilled Cheese from The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar. Some may even enjoy both! All tours will end with a spiked coffee drink for a little pick-me-up.

While the tour’s emphasis is on craft cocktails and bites, there’s also an educational component, providing additional value and sophistication. Participants can expect to learn about Downtown Houston’s history, architecture and culture in between each tour stop. To compile this wealth of information, Best Bites Houston Founder Star Gilani worked closely with local historians like Minnette Boesel and Jim Parsons from Preservation Houston, Houston’s only citywide nonprofit historic preservation education and advocacy organization.

Gilani will lead the Booze, Bites & Historical Sites Tour, just as she leads the original Best Bites Houston Tour. During her time as the City of Sugar Land’s Marketing & Tourism Manager, Gilani noticed a void for tourists visiting Houston and its surrounding areas. So many of them wanted numerous culinary experiences over a short weekend period but weren’t sure how to navigate the endless bar and restaurant options.

“There’s so much to do in Houston, and that can be very overwhelming to visitors – not to mention locals,” said Gilani. “Best Bites Houston has essentially created crash courses on the Downtown area, which has highly increased in popularity over the last few years. These tours are a fun combination of drinking, eating, and history that people may never experience in any other setting. They’re also great ways to meet and bond with people whilst breaking bread.”

The Booze, Bites & Historical Sites Tour will be offered weekly on Fridays from 4 – 6:30 p.m. and Sundays from 3 – 5:30 p.m. Admission is $69 and includes four cocktails, three bites and a bunch of fascinating historical intel. Each tour will have between six and 16 guests. Parking is available for $5 at One Market Square Garage, conveniently located within walking distance of the tour’s starting point. Private tours for corporate outings, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties or any other occasion.
